Increase your resistance!
Autumn is upon us, but fortunately we can still enjoy some sunshine this weekend. Starting in September, we will have the “r” in the month for eight months. These are months with shorter days and less sunlight and heat than the months of spring and summer. In the r months, our resistance goes down and we are more susceptible to flu and colds. Therefore, we need to pay extra attention during these months to maintain our resistance. You can support your body in the transition phase to autumn by taking extra vitamin C and vitamin D. And, of course, catching a terrace this weekend to enjoy the sun as much as possible.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D is one of the few vitamins the body makes for itself. Your body does need some help with this. Sunlight and nutrition are important for vitamin D production.
Vitamin D:
- Ensures healthy bones and teeth
- supports immune system building
- is good for the brain
- Helps the lungs function
- helps the heart and vessels
Foods high in vitamin D are:
- Oily fish (herring, salmon and mackerel)
- Meat
- Eggs
If you are deficient in vitamin D, it is advisable to take extra vitamin D supplements. Especially in the months where the “r” is in the month.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is the most well-known vitamin with many positive properties that promote your health. Vitamin C is important for your overall health. It strengthens your immune system in cases of stress, flu and colds, among others.
Vitamin C occurs naturally in fruits and vegetables. Foods high in vitamin C include citrus fruits, strawberries, green leafy vegetables, mango, watermelon and sauerkraut.
Supplements help give an extra boost when health and your immune system are weakened.
