The name BodySwitch refers to a lifestyle switch that leads to a healthier body. BodySwitch is an accessible franchise concept that guarantees a successful, professional integrative medicine practice. Offering the f ormule to more people has to do with civic engagement. The BodySwitch concept offers an opportunity to be innovative in the changing healthcare market.

Branches

BodySwitch now has branches in Heemskerk, Amsterdam, Badhoevedorp, Nijkerk and Alkmaar.

Our mission is to help as many people as possible regain and maintain their health. The Netherlands had about 6 million chronically ill people in 2016. It is our mission to turn this tide.

Methodology

The practice focuses on individual counseling or as an additional support to other treatment. In particular, our distinction lies in treating so-called autoimmune diseases and chronic syndromes such as Crohn’s disease in a natural and above all healthy way. Together with the client, based on an individual treatment plan, we work structurally to improve and optimize health. This is based on the four pillars of Bodyswitch: mindset, exercise, nutrition and supplementation. Our treatment plan can act as an alternative or replacement to the regular medical course. What we do is based on evidence and sound research. Bodyswitch’s treatments are basically suitable for everyone.

Distinctive

BodySwitch is a professional practice for integrative medicine and treatment based on integral lifestyle intervention. It positions itself alongside mainstream approaches to a diverse range of disease states. In particular, our distinction lies in treating so-called autoimmune diseases in a natural and healthy way.
Based on the four pillars of BodySwitch: mindset, exercise, nutrition and supplementation, together with the client on the basis of a professional and individual treatment plan, structural work is done to improve and optimize health. Innovation runs like a thread through BodySwitch. Not only in treatment methods but also in the form of supporting back-office services such as the innovative BodySwitch ICT platform.

Active support

As a new franchisee, you will go through a comprehensive training program and start working with the concept described in the manual as soon as possible. We actively support you by providing materials and knowledge. Our goal is to “unburden” you so you can have full focus on the clients. Furthermore, we provide regular personal feedback and contact.

Profile of candidate

• If you are not BIG registered, you have at least a completed four-year college education (or are working on the final part), focused on the future requirements for 2022: Including Basic Medical Knowledge and Psychosocial Basic Knowledge that meets the 2017 Plato standard and Orthomolecular Nutrition/Medicine.
• You have an affinity for (preventive) health care; you want to heal patients from the core.
• You have good empathy and analytical skills,can think systems well and are learning and curious.
• You are goal-oriented and entrepreneurial.
• You are willing to invest in building your own practice (in which we will help you, of course).

Not everyone is necessarily qualified to start a BodySwitch branch. We set high standards and want to be the best! Of course, we also have much to offer and distinguish ourselves through innovation, among other things. This concept is an excellent fit for example with existing entrepreneurs and healthcare professionals such as therapists, primary care physicians, general practitioners, physical therapists, nurses, psychologists, dieticians, medical biologists, etc. We are happy to discuss the possibilities with you!

Our first franchisee was Sicco Weertman who was studying to become a general practitioner.
Sicco explains what his motivation was for joining BodySwitch:

‘After my medical degree, I chose cardiology, first I gained experience in internal medicine for six months. Then for 3 years in 3 hospitals as a physician-cardiology assistant worked. Although I had good content, I did not get into training because, according to the trainers, I “did not fit into the culture.” They were right about that in retrospect. I unconsciously resisted production thinking and lack of attention to the individual patient. Without realizing it, I was losing myself. Eventually, I ended up at the family medicine school. This seemed the best fit for me: close to the people, personal attention, more time, broader view, etc. In practice, however, I found that I still could not express my passion and had too little space and time to immerse myself in the individual patient.

By chance, I came in contact with Frank Jonkers during my freshman year. In successive conversations, I became increasingly impressed with his vision, passionate method and logical approach to health issues. When Frank asked me to start a BodySwitch branch as well, I was immediately interested. The idea that I could work on people’s health in an innovative, science-based way tailored to the individual person really appealed to me. That’s why I decided to stop the GP training immediately and focus entirely on my own BodySwitch practice.
